Hello I’m Regina Whitesell and I am very pleased to be offering private and group piano lessons at The Music Studio of Patricia Keith! My goal is to provide a fun, yet educational learning experience as you explore music with the piano. I look to improve cognitive development, creativity, coordination, and focus through the use of various tools. We will learn to read music, correctly utilize musical symbols and terms, develop dexterity and coordination, and perform with confidence!
In our first lesson together, you can expect me to ask a lot of questions. My goal is to get to know the student… their personal goals, interests, hobbies and skills. It is my goal to help them approach learning piano in the way that will work best for them. After finding a better understanding of them as an individual, I will make my recommendation for piano books. I request that the student purchase the necessary books as soon as possible after the first lesson (so they may bring them along for their second lesson). The first lesson will cover an introduction to keyboard geography, note-reading, proper posture and hand-positioning, and a bit of improvising. Non-beginners will be asked to play something that they already know, in order for me to get a sense of where they are and what they have already learned. I will go over the expectations for practicing each week. Lastly, I’ll share a bit about myself, and my own piano journey! My hope is that by the second lesson, we feel that we know each other a bit.
I’m looking forward to sharing my love of the piano with you!
In an effort to meet the growing needs of our studio’s wonderful students, in the fall of 2016 the studio will debut our newest performance ensemble: Berks Vocal Arts
For those singers looking for inspiration and challenge, increased rigor, complex music, Vocal Arts has been designed. Vocal Arts students will be held to the highest standards of attendance, behavior, and accountability. Vocal Arts students will be expected to make Vocal Arts a top priority and there will be a strict attendance policy.
Berks Vocal Arts
A diverse vocal ensemble devoted to achieving vocal excellence through artistic expression and a rigorous work ethic with emphasis on building musicianship through sight reading & the performance of challenging choral literature.
“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.”
Entrance by student application and audition(Open to students in grades 8-12; students of other ages/grades will be considered on a case by case basis.).
All accepted students will complete an attendance & behavior contract
1. Prepared Piece of your choosing that demonstrates your best vocal technique (classical styles encouraged, but not required)
2. Sight reading, provided by the director
3. Range Check, led by the director
4. Sealed/Signed teacher recommendation letter

The letter should be sealed and signed by the teacher across the seal. You should not request a separate copy of this letter from the teacher or ask to see their letter, as it is confidential.
5. Student Essay
Please write why you would like to be a part of Vocal Arts. What do you hope to glean from the experience and what unique traits do you plan to bring to the group? What will your level of commitment be? What are your strengths as a choral singer and what areas do you hope to improve?
